I am looking for a new bass, and I went to GC the other day and tried a lot out. My price range is 300-400$, and I really like the sterling by Musicman basses up there, along with some of the higher end schecters, problem is they all were 500+

I did some research, and I found a Spector Classic Legend 4 string bass + hardshell case for 385$ (including shipping)

There are no dealers nearby me so I can try it out, so does anyone know if it feels like a schecter or sterling? I currently use a squier jazz bass, but the tone knob broke, and I am still relatively new to bass. I do some cover songs with my friends and we might play live at our friends house soon for some other friends, and my jbass never seems to cut through the mixes or live, and it has a terrible slap tone. (at least mine does, I haven't touched the strings or adjusted anything on it other than tuning in the 4 years I have owned it...)

Just curious on what you guys think. I would like to have another bass just for having 2s sake, and the spector seems to normally retail for 529$ without a hardcase. The one I am looking at is slightly used but apparently not much.

edit: would the spector be a step up, compared to my squier jbass?

i love musicman basses. cant say i have tried many schecter basses though, only guitars. i would recommend a sterling over the schecter only because i think its one of the best basses made. i suggest hopping on youtube and listening to each one and pick the one you like. either one would be a step up from a squier

yeah, those 2 are def. awesome

My question is about the SPECTOR bass though. Classic legend 4.

Any experience with it? Does it handle like a schecter or sterling?

my roommate has a sterling...it's kinda cool, but it always sounds trebley to me...maybe it's his amp/settings

i honestly don't trust my roommate's tastes in sound

cant say i have ever tried a spector bass before. it does look like a pretty well crafted and good sounding bass. plus it has some pretty awesome looking paint jobs. i dont think you would go wrong with ordering one

spectors are always solid for their money dude. You cant go wrong with that.

sterlings are also pretty damn good for their price. The trebely noise can be changed with the right amp and turning the tone and volume knobs around.

yeah, sterling was def what I was going to get until I saw the spector

It seems like a really good deal. Professional musician is selling it to thin out his collection, only been played a few times and includes a hard case for 350$ total

In your opinion, would it be a step up from a squier jazz? Which I paid maybe $200 for originally

lol of course. Its a good, solid bass. Spectors are tough to beat in price and tone.

hey, maybe you can tell me this

If you've owned one or seen one IRL before, have you noticed a stamp or something similar on the back of the headstock indicating it is a licensed product?

The one I was looking at on eebay seems to be missing this stamp on the back? Could it possibly be a knock off or something?
