If you want a mic that can do both recordings / live / vocals / instruments I would get a Shure SM57, its like the industry standard all purpose mic. Most of the mics you posted are almost exclusively for vocals, as well they won't hold up and will not work well with live situations at all.

That just seems ridiculous to me lol. No matter how good your mic is if the rest of your recording gear is subpar it won't matter. I just wouldn't spend 300 on a mic alone.

im not gonna be doing live anything anytime soon so im just gonna buy a mic for recording and studio purposes

and i feel my recording device could deal with a 300 dollar mic its not like it would sound just as sucky as my current one

i dont want another 100 dollar mic which is what i have its just dumb.

so you dont suggest getting the 4040? im not going to be going live anytime soon
im going to be using it strickly studio purposes
so what do you suggest

Then that one would probably be fine. I usually prefer more utilitarian equipment. Plus I prefer to go to an actual studio. Recording demo music just seems silly to me, but some people really enjoy making there own recordings for fun.

the sm57 is not just "another $100 mic" go into any professional studio and they'll have atleast 1 or 2 of these

from your list i'd go with the NT1A but if your gonna be wanting to record guitar i'd personally use an sm57 still^^

is there not a mic with better quality than the sm57 and can still be used for recording intruments like mandolin, harmonica and vocals?

would the 4040 not do well with recording mandolin, harmonica as well as vocals?

dont know too much about the 4040 just not a big fan of the brand

i just know that by getting an sm57 you'll get an industry standard mic for a low price

just look for reviews, perhaps look at a sm58 as its basically the same mic just with a cover thing on it which will shield the more unwanted sounds of quieter instruments

+ you wont need phantom power^^
