Hi guys, i might be getting drums in awhile, and I was wondering :

Is it possible to learn drums, without taking any lessons ( as in : go to a teacher and he teaches you stuff ).
So with internet help or anythign like that?

Any information / advice is welcome!

Thanks!

it's possible, but I don't suggest it.

I tried doing it, and ended up learning a lot of stuff the wrong way, which is incredibly hard to forget/relearn.

yep
but no if you want to get to a high level

even people like dave weckl still learn from people

a lot of drumming is about technique, get it wrong your gonna be breaking/damaging stick/heads/drums/cymbals
i think of lessons as an investment :P

You can conceivably earn anything on your own, but you will never develop at the rate or quality you would with a qualified instructor.

If you're sufficiently motivated, it's definitely possible.

I wouldn't suggest it, though.

Even if you don't want to take formal lessons (that's the impression I'm getting), it's really important to play with/observe other musicians.
