If you're willing to spend a decent amount, a Rickenbacker bass will definitely suffice.

Used Fender's have probably the best ratio quality/price. My uncle has a 70's Jazz Bass, and it's damn good instrument.

Ive got my eye on a Yamaha RBX170, but i also went to my local music shop the other day and there was a brand with a "S" logo... cant remember the name but he says that they work with Epiphone so they are almost exactly the same. I like epiphone guitars so i might go for this one... if you know what the name of the brand is lemme know please XD. anyways what do you think about the Yamaha?

He's lying to you lol.

Just get a cheap fender or ephiphone bass....they will run like 400 or less new...and half that used

I like the looks of Sting Ray's personally, but a used fender is 100% the way to go.

That's a horrible deal Johnson is a shitty pawn shop brand bass.... Dude for 250-300 you can easily get a used Fender jazz bass or p bass, fender is going to be your best bet

Thanks for the feedback, i found out the name of the one at the shop, its a samick bass guitar. apparently they are the same as epiphone and they cost less. would that sound like a good deal? price at store is right at 200 dollars. and what about the Yamaha RBX170? its only 170 what you guys think about these 2 bass guitars

I wouldn't bet on this.

Except if you want a brand new high-end instrument, I'd say never go for new instruments. Especially, never buy a new low-end instrument...they're fucking crap. Aim for used, but better quality for the same price.

My only advice is get a used Fender. You just can't go wrong with that. They're not that expensive. If you can't get USA Fender, go for MIJ Fender not with MIM Fender.
