Hello to all in the music community of jsp.

Here is my cool story bro:

I decided I want to learn how to play the guitar , so i did some google search and was convinced i should start with an acoustic guitar.
Next stop was to some local stores here where i did some search on acoustic guitars with a budget of 200-300 euros ( 270-400 dollars i think )

I checked the neck , strings and wood material, tuning of each guitar the clerk showed me in each store ( with some little help ofc since im noob at this ) and limited my choices to 2 guitars:

Fender cd 100
Ibanez sgt120

Both come at approximately the same price and i cant really choose between them. String sound quality seemed equally good to me , frets and neck with small differences ( ibanez had longer but thinner neck if i can recall correctly ) and finally they both gave me the same feeling of excitement and eagerness to play their mellow sound^^

I really cant choose between those two. Plz post here only if you have personal experience on the matter and dont post links of any kind. I got all the info i need for both, just need some extra advice from some experienced guitar users. I am gonna buy one of these two next month due to exam period

Help me choose plz^^

P. S : sry about this wall of text :P ;)

Was playing on the Ibanez sgt120 on a school contest. Pretty much was awesome and surely beats any other acoustics I've played on, but on the other hand I haven't played on that Fender you mentioned at all. Nevertheless, I also have an electric Ibanez so if I was on your place, I'd go for that SGT.

First decide which kind of music you're going to play.

I haven't had any problems with Ibanez guitars yet. I don't have any plans on buying any other brand, either.

I don't play acoustic guitars, and I never have, but Ibanez is a good and reliable brand.

If it's between those 2, definitely go with the Ibanez.

I am not a fan of fender acoustics at all.

For what it's worth, have you tried a Seagull guitar or a lower end breedlove? The seagull entourage is one of the best budget acoustics i've ever played (it runs a little over 300 dollars US).

instead of asking us, 1 of the most important thing is to try it out! it will feel and sound different for every1,
only you can decide.

I would choose a Fender as my 1st guitar even though i am not a big fan of Fender , because it's has more options on what to play , not that ibanez doesnt have it's just that ibanez is for more technicaly playing , but i wouldn't choose acoustic guitar to start with , i would choose electric guitars and of course a Gibson , but hey thats just me :) good luck.

I would say because of the shoddy qaulity control on most low end guitars that you could sit down and play 5 of the same guitar (especially with acoustics) and they would all play and sound different. You need to sit down and play and find one you like the feel of. Although I wouldn't recommend either of those. They are both laminate builds and will lose tone and quality as they age. I would recommend finding a cheap solid top...yamaha and alvarez both have some that are very affordable... actually yamaha recently released a line ofsolid tops that are below 300 which is amazing, if you stick with it buying a solid top will be something you can keep and not a waste of money, and also solid tops will have a better resale value if you decide you hate it :).

Don't get suckered into a laminated top guitar.

this is a nice one at a great price http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Yamaha-FS700S-Folk-Acoustic-Guitar?sku=518274
