I have a Line 6 Spider 3 75 watt amp, and I was wondering if somebody could help me with two tones. I'm trying to get a Protest The Hero tone (listen to 'Bloodmeat' if you need an example), and I'm trying to get a Between The Buried And Me tone (listen to' Selkies: The Endless Obsession' if you need an example).

Thanks for any help.

It IS my new amp. I could get an X3 Live, but I'd rather get my other gear first.

if you can return it right now then do it, you will regret it later if you dont.

Its not as much that the amps sucks but for the price you could get a much better amp.

You could save more and get a real amp.

Well, it was bought for me. It was to either get that amp or not get an amp at all, and I'll take the Spider 3 over my Crate 212/120 any day.

But, is anybody going to help with this tone, or do I have to just let this topic fade?

I have used a friend's Line 6 Spider III 75w quite a bit over the past ~3 years because I didn't feel like moving my Peavey.
The only way I was able to get a crunchy tone out of it was to use the presets "Bumblefoot 1" and "FFAF UK", don't touch the tone selector knob, 7-10 gain depending on your pickups, 10 treble, 4-6 mid, and 5-8 bass depending on exactly how you want your tone.

You are not going to get a nice sweet tone out of that amp though, the head itself doesn't sound good with the digital presets, and the speaker is awful. You might get a tone closer to what you want programming new presets (I have no idea how to do this, but it is supposed to be programmable) and using the line out to a monitor.

Which band are those settings referring to?

This sounds odd, but I bet you would have easier time getting the tone out of the crate, beleive me. When I get home from the office I will listen to those songs and help you out with the settings, but you will never with either of this amps be able to REALLY even mirror or replicate the tone, there gear is what makes the tone honestly, their amp settings will not reflect the same settings on your amp, seeing as how the entire setup is different. but regardless when I get home I will send you pm with some help, I am fairly proficient with replicating tones, but again a better amp would help....
