The one that isnt cheap and nice...cuz they suck. I assume you mean the line 6 spyder. The only line 6 amps to look at are their Vetta line and their higher end modellers. But their cheap stuff is terrible. If you want the high and low gain modellers look at the Peavey Vyper, has more models, costs the same and sounds a hell of alot better.

Anything past volume 2 will start to sound very fizzy and bad. Also the modelling is not very accurate. The thing here is that you could get something that does more, does it better, for the same price. The Peavey Vyper is also a modelling amp, it has metal, clean and everything in between as well as tuner, and stompbox options that can be used. Also it has an optional footswitch that lets you controll the volume, gain, stompboxes, which for i beleive is very usefull for a future purchase. The line 6 spyder does not compare to the peavey vyper. Check it out, its the same price.

Vouch for the vypyr, much better amp than anything line 6 can do. Ultimately, a decent tube amp will sound ten thousand times better, but they are much more expensive.

I disagree, i use a line 6 spyder 3 75 watt amp at the moment for practices and at live shows. For an upgrade from a beginners amp it is really good and you can buy the $100 dollar 4 channel footswitch for it also. At shows we're usually miced and at the other places we have played that arent miced i still have never had to turn it up past half volume.

Vouch what has been said in here. Line 6 Spyders are horrible and a waste of money. Go with the Peavey Vyper, about the same price, but way better.

If you can afford a bit more, aim for a tube amp :)
