I'd say start with Do, Re, Mi scales (learn them on the keyboard / piano, and practice WITH the keyboard until you're PERFECTLY sure you can do it)

Do NOT start with a song (if you're a total beginner) -- This is advice I'm giving you after learning how to sing for 8 years. If you start by singing songs you'll never really know whether you're on pitch or not, and worse, if you keep practicing like that it'll be really hard to break the habit of singing the wrong note.

If you seriously want to learn, it WILL take you a while, and you SHOULD NOT start off by singing songs -- it doesn't help.

Tatgren's vocals are fucking pulverizing in that song. Same with Cancer of the Soul. And that whole album.

Assuming you are talking about singing rather than screaming/growls, though let us know what you are looking to do more specifically, a type of music ideally (rock, metal, blues, opera).
What is your vocal range?

Listen to this guy 100%, start slow and simple and you'll build your way up. Don't just go through a song really sloppy, if you can't get a phrase practice over and until you get it down you don't want to learn it all wrong.

To make things a bit more clear, I want to start clean vocals then progress to more "metal" vocals.
I'm going to stick to clean vocals for a while until I can get that straight.
