Edit: You're guitar sounds out of tune for a lot of it. It may just be me, but you might want to check that out.

you need to start learning how to alternate pick and better picking form

Nice, keep up the practice (seems like you've already learned so much). I'm also a beginner at the guitar, but I can give you some tips -- you need to hold your pick properly, and anchor your pinky. Also, pay close attention to the rhythm of the song, you're getting the basic rhythm down but missing some of the finer points of the songs.

Most people will agree that anchoring is a pretty bad habit. If you can manage to pick well without anchoring then you will be better off.

I rest my pinky on my gibson's pickup ring and it makes life so much easier
