Okay, so I started out about 1.25 years ago with an electric guitar, and almost exactly 1 month ago I got an Ibanez AEL20 acoustic -- now I can play it just fine (and im like addicted now, for the past month I've been playing for almost 3 hours a day minimum >.>;) and I can bar the strings fine, but when it comes to playing like more than 5 or 6 consecutive bar chords my left hand gets really tired and then I end up not being able to fully bar every string.

I'm just wondering, is it just me? Because when I go back to my electric guitar, its like butter to play... it feels so easy, especially since it has a lower action, slimmer neck and its especially easy to press down on the frets now. The only reason I'm suspecting the problem lies with me and not my guitar is because I don't have a problem playing any other types of chords or notes... and if it is me, anyone wanna suggest a good way to build that kind of finger strength?

no, i dont think its you, cause my fingers hurt when playing some acoustic guitars too, it depends on the type of strings and the action.

Electric guitars are smaller.

It's stamina dude. It's just another time to say "practise" tongue.gif
Doing your 3 hours a day will greatly benefit you anyway, look at what you can do now and in a month compare to what you can do then. There'll be a dramatic change!

I only recently realised that i can do a gallopped triplet riff at SLayer speed, i never used to be able to! ohmy.gif

This happend to me when i began playing all those years ago

I would just suggest doing simple hand stretchs and exercises. For example, squeeze your hands into fists and hold it tight for a couple seconds, then release. And stretch your fingers out before each time you play. It'll not only build speed and strength, but also prevent the dastardly carpal tunnel which would really hinder your playing.

and also, just practice playing bar chords a lot and you'll get there.

I've never had this problem but practice will always make it better.

acoustics r way harder to bar than electric

but anyway u just gotta get something called a finger press no joke u gotta push a little button on each individual finger it builds up strength real fast

ofc there is also just practice which is just as affective if a lil slower

Well, use the side of your finger to bar instead of the meat, if you aren't already, otherwise its stamina, you could try lowering the action if you don't want to adapt
