They seem to be good practice amps for $100-200 (15w-30w). Should I avoid Line 6? Any suggestions on amps from $100-200?

Is this a good alternative?

I would actually suggest the spider as a practice amp in that price range compared to most.

Definitely get a Vypyr over a spider any day. They sound much better for the same price. You won't want them for anything more than a practice amp, though. The 120w models are completely pointless because you can get much better sounding amps for the same price.

the vypyr with the tubes sound alright...and the pedal you can buy for it is pretty nifty

but for that price range, the roland cubes are what i would choose....

the best line 6 product out there is the toneport series, which is great for practice and recording and is in that price range

the vypyr is slowly taking over the practice amp suggestion threads. I would pick the vypyr over the cube.

I would pick a vypyr or fender 25R over the cube. (Yes this is because I think the cubes are fugly)

I just had to play on a spider yesterday.. the sound is so awful.. really not to recommend, if you don't want to only play lame metal.

Musicians dislike spiders because the sound they produce is really synthetic and generic. Better off saving for something else imo.
