5 string = bass unless you're missing a string somewhere ^^
base = scrub instrument, learn-able within a day or two.

I am a beginner at guitar too, even with my stumpy short fingers, I found Sweet Dreams by Marilyn Manson quite easy to play, saying that, I have my guitar Drop C Tuned for Beer Pong Massacre by Dr. Acula

I assume you mean bass and your are out of your mind if you think bass is a scrub instrument.

Yeah you can learn to play greenday songs, but to truly master a bass is much harder than guitar in my opinion.

I am truly starting to believe that everything around you is a scrub and you are some what of a tree in all this. O_o Your opinions are slowly starting to lose value to me.

Anyways, check at the neck... if there are 5 pegheads (the little thingies that turn adjust the sound of the string) then it is a bass, if six, then you are missing one and it is a guitar. smile.gif Best way to start is to figure out what instrument you are playing.

Try getting accustomed to the feeling the bass or guitar has... like just try playing with all the noobness you got. Then try to search the web for easy scales to slowly start adapting your fingers to moving around the neck, or you can also find easy songs with a couple of notes... well, not songs but riffs. I for myself started with Enter the Sandman and Seven Nation Army. >_> But it was a start.

I started myself with small riffs etc.

think the first 3 things I played was

7 nation army riff
smoke on the water riff
smells like Teenspirit solo

thats a fine start to find out how to messure on the neck smile.gif

You can't say an instrument is harder than another. The only thing that matters is what you play with it.

People say violin is the hardest instrument ever. There are some ways of playing the bass or the guitar that take more practice than most of the violin stuff.

Anyways, check out the Tipton brothers from Zero Hour. True masters of bass and guitar.
