im trying to play that style, especially the song cant stop. but i wanan know how to play it like frusiciante where you strum the whole time instead of plucking.

I don't know what to tell you, all you have to do is find the tabs and play them...

At the parts where it seems like you should just be picking instead of strumming, mute all of the strings except for the one you're playing on. That way you can strum the whole song and it will still sound correct.

its hard as shit. i can play it the regular way but the actul guy plays like the kid, who is good. he plays it by strumming the whole guitar and muting the strings that arnt played.


And as for jebsus, can you play like that? do you use your thumb like he does?

Yeah I can. It's harder than it looks, but it looks really easy so... =\

I don't always use my thumb. It's either my thumb or whatever other fingers I'm not using. I don't really think about it. Just practice and it will come naturally.

Don't listen to these ppl that say like "wow a 9 year old can play it but you can't"
I have to admit it is a pretty easy riff but to get that alternate sound not just strumming try changing picking patterns and work with it listen to the song then try to get the guitar the same rythm.

Some people have a better "ear" picking out different things by listening to the song

Using your thumb like he does isn't that difficult. At least not for me. It takes some major getting used to though.
