What's your price range? What kind of music are you looking to start playing?

Seeing that you're in Metal, I'll go based off of that and a rather small budget.

A good guitar to start out with (emphasis on start out, I wouldn't stick with this forever) is the B.C. Rich Warlock series. You can get a decent one for anywhere from $100-$300.

Amp-wise, if you're just looking to start off and fuck around on your own for awhile, you'll only need a small practice amp. The Peavey Backstage Amplifier is a good bargain for just $60.

I understand you want second opinions, but no need to bump, topics move down very slowly in this forum.

Try to get a starter pack for 300$~, there not the best but if you get them from a good brand they can be satisfying.

Try Ibanez or Scheter or Jackson or Dean, all of those are good metal guitars. There's also ESP/LTD but I dunno if there are starter packs.

the Roland Microcube is in my opinion the best amp in its price range. As far as practicing and learning goes, this amp is far underpriced and underrated.

As for a guitar, there are a number of cheap guitars I could recommend, but you're best off going into your local Guitar Center and trying some out for yourself. Try telling your price range to a sales associate and ask him for suggestions. Believe it or not, with your price range the amp is much more important than the guitar. Don't be fooled by the look of the guitar, either - that's how I ended up with my BC Rich. Within the next few years you should upgrade to a more expensive guitar if you plan on sticking with the instrument, but this amp will serve you well for a long time.

+1

Roland Microcube is very useful mini amp (I use it and its enough for practice ) , if you want better (Like real tube sound) try Peavey mini colossal or Ibanez Wallbee.
