I just kind of started listening to rock.. maybe you could help me out with some songs.

I like the songs that don't scream really, but are up beat. and I also like the slow songs like iris and before its too late that have some meaning to them.

Hmm check out Hoobastank's "Crawling in the Dark" "Pieces" "Remember Me". Those are pretty good rock songs.

For Avenged Sevenfold, the Waking The Fallen altogether is much better than City of Evil. Yes, there's screaming in it, but you'll get used to it. The music is just better.
