Depends on the mistake. The most important thing is don't stop at a mistake and make it obvious.

Mkay here is an example.

You are playing a pentatonic, and you miss a note and it throws your concentration and you forget where you are. A nightmare, but easy to cover.

There are lots of things you can do.

Pickslide
Throw the guitar at someone
Stomp an effect
Play something to improvise
Restart the phrase
Skip the phrase and move to the next part
Play rhythm part

Improvise would be the best choice, but you have to make sure you're on the good scale and you know how to improvise.

Or do some crazy effects like a divebomb out of nowhere haha, people love it biggrin.gif

/Edit; @ Bob, you can't just skip the phrase and move on to the next part. How will your bandmates react? It'll be even worse.

First off, guitarists have typically rehearsed their set list enough that they will VERY rarely mess up when performing. When this does happen, though, most guitarists develop the ability to make everything look like it was on purpose. If you think about it, any improvisation could be considered a mess up.

- Continue with the song
- Don't Panic

I find if you make a mistake on drums its alot easyer to cover up.
Well I do, I just turn it either into a roll or if its a bad fuck up I stop count the rest of the beats then kick into the next part.
Guitars are easy to cover up. Drums are way to obvious lol.

It is perticualy Scarey live when you fuck up. but just keep your head on tight and bite the bullet.

No it won't, not at all lol. If you fuck up during Rhythm, no-one will notice. I'm talking about solo's really... But generally, it's piss easy to fix a mistake biggrin.gif

Oh well I thought like during a solo if you make a mistake just skip to the next phrase >.>
