yep da boy done sold out hard. i thought the jasmine V song and the lil wayne song were just some lil flukes. but after i waited for the "I" single to drop and was heavily dissappointed.
i heard this today...

http://radio.com/2014/09/25/kendrick-lamar-im-da-man-snippet-new-song/

its become a question of when a person will sellout now versus if. it appears control was just name dropping to get enough twitter followers so that he could release this cookie cutter radio garbage.
when the album drops, i'll listen, and O.D., section 80 and GKMC are all going to be timeless classics. but fuuuuuuuuuuuck.....

hate it when people try to make money , real artists do it for free and cut off their ear when they go crazy.

Why do people complain about these shit?

If you want someone to continue to make good music, they have to make money.

The money is better in the mainstream area.

but then it becomes watered down, easy listening, garbage.

that's why people hate it. they no longer are who they once were, they become a product of the mainstream

e- look at Metallica

If you want better equipment, you have you make more money. Someone who's already making good music doesn't need more money to continue making good music.

Radio fame tends to change the way music is made and presented. Suddenly your favorite artist has drastically changed their style to satisfy the people paying them, not because they wanted to, because the radio wants to appeal to the majority. Not a huge fan of the majority myself. There's a lot of terrible music floating around in the mainstream as evidence, but that's also my own opinion. I was the only one who wanted to kick out the windows of my friends' cars (to escape) when they decided Evanescence was the best thing ever... 800 times... because they never heard anything else because the radio was their source of music.

Not everything that appears on the radio is garbage, and not everyone drowns in the media culture when they ultimately sell out. I've discovered... a couple good bands and musicians driving in my car. Luckily for me, I don't really care about Kendrick Lamar or if he sells out.

id rather have a million fans who pay - then 7 fans who can't afford anything
and maybe if you only have 7 fans - maybe its cause your awful.
also id rather be in a group of millions then in a group of 7

ever been to a concert with 100 of thousands of fans - its f=ing great.

also Metalica was always garbage - so they never could actually sell out.

In most cases it's not possible to reach millions of fans without making artistic compromises and that's why people are complaining. If bands can rise to worldwide fame without watering down their music then i'm all for it but that literally never happens.

Your comment about Metallica just proves your ignorance, once they were way above average in the Trash genre and now they are just shit-tier in every genre.

yes i have and it wasn't as great as you put it. they focus on their newer stuff, not the stuff that made them who they are.
metallica (yes another metallica example) has openly admitted to not wanting to play majority of their older stuff to promote their newer image.

after the death of cliff it seemed like they wanted to commercialize and become what everyone else heard on the radio, at least that's my guess.
and my guess stands true today:
-Black Album
-Load
-Reload

-Garage Inc
-St Anger
-Death Magneic

all albums to associate themselves with "nu metal" - again, something they openly admitted.

the ones in bold are highly connected to the Nu Metal scene

artist compromises or just better? Inexperience can be confused for talent.

If More people like something - there's usually an actual reason - one you don't seem to understand.

Musician are often inspired by different sources - be they partners or producers - these people never get the actual credit they deserve.

If you like someones early work buy that, but if you like their latter work you can buy that too.

You can actually choose what you like - Funny how that works. There are no rules , just the ones you create.
