March 2, 1942 – October 27, 2013The cause of death is uncertain at this moment but I seem to recall that he has had liver problems for a while and got a surgery earlier this year.
Doubt anyone could disagree with calling him one of the greatest. I've admired him for many years so this doesn't feel that far off from losing a family member...
His solo career has some terrific stuff but his work with The Velvet Underground is obviously the most well-known and often said to have influenced a whole generation of musicians.
Velvet made a whole bunch of incredible stuff and among them is Heroin, possibly my favourite song of all time.
Actually, everyone owe it to themselves to listen through to the whole iconic The Velvet Underground & Nico album.
