I've listened to this track by Alesso, I really love it. I'm a trance fan, and I would have classified it as trance music.
However, I've seen people calling it melodic house.

Does any of you know what kind of music it is, and if possible explain why?

Melodic house isn't a genre, I'd say it's house, typical floor to the floor beat, rather fast bpm, uplifting vocal.
