So a lot of my favorite bands are heavily influenced by old school metal bands (ie: Metallica)

I was wondering if anyone could recommend me some good old school metal bands to start listening to and some good songs.

For Slayer I'd recommend South of Heaven or Seasons in the Abyss

I agree with Rock in Rio being absolutely amazing (seen Maiden twice wish they would play Blood Brothers like at Rio!) Try some stoner metal!

I been lucky enough to see that song twice live, and I gotta vid on Youtube of me playing it.

God Hates Us All is a great album, when all you need is pure aggression. Disciple is one of Slayers greatest accomplishments.

Or if you want something a bit more chill, this was one of the first bands that i started listening to.
They do some heavy songs and song chill songs with clean vocals, i think it'll make a good transition band for ya.

I just recently bought the Dopesmoker re-issue. More along the lines of stoner/doom, should check out Melvins, Om, Electric Wizard, Bongzilla, Earth (bit more of a drone/doom vibe but that's alright), Boris' earlier stuff.

Of all metal genres, black is by far my favorite.
