I've gone from metal to punk to alternative to folk, and now I've finally arrived at old school blues rock. As a guitar player, I've gotta say this is one of the most enjoyable genres.

These are among my favorites right now:
Hendrix
Clapton
Fleetwood Mac
BB King
Ray Vaughan
Santana
John Mayer
Tomo Fujita (one of my buddy's berklee's professors. i met him, and he's absolutely amazing. more of a blues-funk kinda player though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7B3esp4X20)

Anyone else? Or is blues dead?

Taj Mahal
Howlin Wolf
John Lee Hooker
Rising Sons
Seasick Steve
Black Keys
Yardbirds
Bob Dylan has some cool blues, unless you did that in your folk faze
Early Led Zeppelin and and Rolling Stones have great blues
Dr. Feelgood
Free

The first part of the list is more bluesy, the second is mainly blues rock

Thanks for these. I'll give it a try
Bob Dylan came to my school a year or two ago and the show was awesome. John Mayer's new album is a lot of blues/folk fusion and I love it.
And Jimmy Page is one of my most respected guitarists hands down. He's got a lot of blues influence but he puts a lot more distortion in his playing which is cool by me. Plus the thrash bands like Metallica and Megadeth that I used to listen to draw their influence from him.

I've never gotten into Rolling Stones for some reason, but I suppose they deserve a second chance.
