any of you guys have probs with jailbreaking a ipod touch?

my bro said he gave his to this guy from school ( to put music and such on it ) and apparently now the ipod is acting weird and crashing or something, this is just going by what my bro was told ( he also said the kid tried jailbreaking it ).
i have a feeling this kid is messing with him say his ipod is busted so that he can keep it or something if its a easy fix.

i advised my bro to get it back and i will look it over and probably attempt the various Reset/Restore option available to bring it back to factory settings and see it that fixs it if not then i guess its done for.

the kid even went as far to say that his comp is busted and crashes and stuff now. i don't see that as a possibility since i have never heard of anything like that happening ever unless the Jailbreak file he got was a virus and that messed his comp up lol.

i dunno where is to ask since Ipod are mainly used for Music i decided to ask here since i assume many of you have them and alot of ppl tend to jailbreak them.

Some jailbreaks stop working if you shut down the ipod, all I can think of really.

Not sure you're allowed to talk about jailbreaks on here though, could be wrong, but yeah

well it's not like i'm asking on how to do it, i'm just asking about a prob my bro has now and if others had a similar prob and if the Reset/restore worked for them

my bro didn't buy it his friend gave him his old one ( the screen was damaged with a few cracks but it still worked 100% ) as for myself closest i come to a MP3 player is my 8gb philips video/mp3 player which still works pretty good and doubles as a flash drive.

only reason i would get a Ipod/Ipad would probably be for the games and such since i don't really listen to a lot of music from mainstream artists, i tend to listen more to Indie artists instrumentals and such.
and it would also double as a test platform for when i decide to test out some code and port some games over to iOS to make a few extra $$ from the app store. ( also going to try other mobile platforms but iOS would probably be the easiest since its used the more )

Indie is a mainstream genre by the way, another way for the industry to thief poor artists

well i just used the word indie since it means done by 1 person ( independent ), most of the stuff i listen to are user generated work from various sites and such ( like Audio portal from Newgrounds, and other sites that i can find instrumentals and good sound )
i also don't care about the genre's as long as it sounds good and catches my ear i end up downloading it soon after.

don't get me wrong there are few actual Artists i listen too but only a few ( like 2 or 3 ) and even then most of the time they don't come out with new material so it gets tiring listening to the same old tracks so i don't listen to them much.
