Anyone know of a site which has information regarding local shows and concerts that aren't huge tours? I want to start going to more but all I find are the big concerts that I've no interest in.

Google... we have ticket master here in canada, im not sure what you have in the states.
google will tell you.. or go to music stores, they usually have the scoop on concerts around.

I use last.fm + check the websites of the venues. Typically.

yeah there are some on last.fm and sometimes on facebook, I get news of events from the artists I liked on their pages

Also - most local papers do atleast one section on gigs or "Whats on now?" bit.

I personally use Facebook, many " unknows artists " got facebook page. Just go on it, and find the information you want ..

For local shows, whether it be any form of metal, hardcore, or just easy listening type music, I usually just look on facebook or fliers all over town.. or friends. Thats essentially the only way i find out about anything.
