Well hello there. I'm sorry you can't find the soul in the types of music found in this thread, however, most of us happen to enjoy it. Pretty cool song you posted, I appreciate you sharing your opinion but your comparison seems strange to me. A person playing a guitar uses the guitar as an interface between them and the sound. The fingers are used to deliver the signals to the instruments. This is exactly how this kind of music is made as well. In fact, this music takes more than creativity and spontaneity to build; it takes on all aspects of production as well, making it a much more technical art. Even the type of music you posted has been through a production stage which is usually done on a computer to some degree. On top of that, many, many, more artists on here than you seem to believe use hardware synthesizers, drum kits, guitars, vocals and many more in-studio recordings which take just as much "soul" to play as anything else. They just use as much software material as they need as well. It's not about picking sides, it's about making good music and you have so many options to choose from. There's no reason to limit that.
Also, you know nothing about me, or any of the people posting here so you shouldn't be making such blatant generalizations about who we think we are or who you think we are.
Very well put.
As both a guitar player and a hardware/software synth player, I can honestly say I've been more frustrated playing synth than guitar, it's really really hard sometimes to create a specific sound you're imagining, whereas guitar is mostly finger dexterity and what kind of amp/guitar you have. I love them both though, and I would never say one has less soul than the other. They're both capable of describing amazing places.
