Lol, that's the acid face alright. Like a deer in headlights.
On the note of books, I just recently finished reading True Hallucinations by Terence McKenna and damn was it a fucking cool book.
It's the story of his trip to the Amazon, when he was about 25 I believe, with some friends and his brother, in search of the rare Oo-Koo-He DMT mixture that is native to the shamans of the area. On the way they encounter some Stropharia Cubensis mushrooms which diverts the whole trip. As they consume the mushrooms throughout the time they spend there, Dennis, Terence's brother, becomes very convinced that he has a method of invoking what could be called "the philosopher's stone" through a series of complex chemical reactions with psilocybin, DNA and resonant frequencies. Through a powerful experience in La Chorrera, Terence's life is changed as he discovers more hints about the nature of fractal time. This is the story of the experience which eventually culminated into Terence's lifework, Timewave Zero.
It's a truly wild story, but being a great fan of reading/listening to the man talk, I thoroughly loved it. It definitely requires some suspension of disbelief but it is also approached in a very rigid scientific manner and Terence does a fantastic job of pointing out the faults of his own theories as well as criticisms. He also points out a few powerful realizations along the way, one of my favorites being the real possibility that lifeforms containing tryptamines could possibly be able to connect with their environment through some sort of wave length that keeps ecosystems in equilibrium.
It would be impossible for me to describe the whole book or it's concepts in their entirety in this post but I highly recommend it to anybody who's interested in Terence, his Timewave Zero theory, 2012 theories, or hallucinogens and/or ethnobotany. Definitely the best book I've read in a very long time.

Dude, It's really funny you should mention it, I actually ordered that book last week and it was supposed to arrive yesterday ( Fucking Barnes and Noble can never get their shit straight... ) However, the tracking info says it'll be here today, hopefully. I'm really anxious to read it, Mckenna says some seriously mind expanding stuff. It's kind of sad we have no modern psychedelic heroes, you know? Mckenna, Leary, Kesey, all gone now. Shulgin and Strassman are still here, but apart from writing they aren't actually heard from much. I wish they would do speeches the way Terence did, but it'll be a long time before someone as articulate as him comes along again, imho. He's got a way with description unlike anyone I've ever heard when he speaks.
