2 Albums I really liked that most people don't know about:
Stromae - Racine Carrée

Belgian guy who got famous with his 2011 single Alors On Danse. This album's pretty good, singles are Formidable and Papatouai.
Gregory Porter - Liquid Spirit

A cool mix between Soul & Jazz and a great voice that reminds me of Isaac Hayes.

Gonna see about getting the second one, seems interesting.

I like alot of the obvious ones like Bill Callahan, Mazzy Star, prefab sprout, Kurt Vile

Other favorites include:

Waxahatchee - Ceresomething Salt

Kinda reminiscant of scout niblet, loud guitarrs, lots of atitude, tight riffs

Angeline Morssion - Are you ready cat

Not groundbreaking but very well done Bossa style Vocal Jazz

Monoswezi - The Village

Tight mix between jazz and african folk music

Grouper - The man who died...

Ambient super low key folkmusic

Harper Simon - Division Street

This record didn't get much atention anywhere and probably didn't sell too well either but imo it's really well crafted pop, there are a few songs on here that i'll probably never get tired of

That's pretty much it for my year list, I haven't listened to that much new music tho tbh, this year I was busy exploring old soul jazz and blues stuff

I have heard none of those albums, too obscure for me apparently.

Listened to Between Dog and Wolf by New Model Army yesterday and didn't care for it much at all, too bland, I guess. The title song was pretty cool, though.

Only essential shit on there is Grouper, if you haven't heard "dragging a dead deer up a hill" album then you absolutely must check it out, rest you can pretty much skip unless you're into the genres

I've heard The Man Who Died in His Boat, but not that one, I'll give it a Googlin'.

Listened to this one today:

Valonielu by Oranssi Pazuzu

Very good stuff, loved the instrumentals, vocals I could take or leave. Probably one of my favorite metal releases for the year and a good introduction to black metal, I'd say, about as "soft" and accessible as the genre gets without being shitty.

working on my end of the year lists.

as usual, songs is way harder. many make a top 50 albums and a top 100 songs this year haha.

Songs are probably impossible for me, beyond maybe a top ten list, I listen to a lot of albums when walking and I just go the entire album without fidgeting with the phone, so I don't check or remember each song as there is a transistion.

Here's my list for top albums of 2013. 10 through maybe 4/5 is a crapshoot really.

X. Peace Sword by The Flaming Lips
IX. Engravings by Forest Swords
VIII. Virgins by Tim Hecker
VII. Floating Coffin by Thee Oh Sees
VI. Vermis by Ulcerate
V. Fanfare by Jonathan Wilson
IV. I See Seaweed by The Drones
III. Shaking the Habitual by The Knife
II.Eros|Anteros by Oathbreaker
I. Reflektor by Arcade Fire

Honorable mentions:

Run the Jewels by Run the Jewels
Immunity by Jon Hopkins
Once I Was an Eagle by Laura Marling
Trouble Will Find Me by The National

I really wanna find a place for those in my top 10 but just don't know what to remove for them :/. Overall a solid year for music, imo.

Of those you listed I really enjoyed the Darkside album. I need to give that one another go.
