Industrial

Uh... yeah, not Industrial.

I mean, they're not bad, but they're NOT Industrial. They have WAY more in common with Metal than Industrial. Or, at least, less in common with the general descriptive "Industrial," rather than getting into the sub-subgenres under the Industrial umbrella.

Unless, of course, you're suggesting that there's similarity to:

artist: Coil
song: I Don't Want To Be The One

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jI1l1RfRQhQ

artist: Clock DVA
song: Transitional Voices

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_a2WqInJPE

artist: Cabaret Voltaire
song: Sensoria

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkfzXq0tA3c

artist: Nurse With Wound
song: The Bottom Feeder

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbfxNoYxMhI

If anything, I'd say PAIN has more in common with the American Coldwave movement (which has since been co-opted by a bunch of young twats, and renamed "Industrial Metal") than anything else:

artist: Chemlab
song: Exile On Mainline

meh, some bands fit neatly into a single genre, others are genre benders. pain might have a strong basis in metal, much more than most indutrial, but theyve definitely got industrial elements as well. industrial metal is a good term for it, there other bands id call that as well, such as turmion katilot.

I dunno; the whole "Industrial Metal" camp is weird to me.

At first, the term co-opted already existing bands (like Chemlab, 16 Volt, Cubanate, etc. etc. etc.), but then, they started adding OTHER bands from other existing genres (pretty much, all of the Neue Deutsche Härte genre), THEN they starting adding bands that (imo) sound WAAAY more Metal than anything else.

I do realize that there's enough of a body of people using the term that it's not going to go away, but the whole movement is weird to me. Like growing up, learning your whole life that "this is an apple," only to one day find out that there's this whole generation of people calling it a Red Groundfruit From Trees, and in addition to apples, they're lumping in other fruits to the Red Groundfruit From Trees family.
