some of the slower songs are the more fun songs to dance to. I'm not the biggest fan of 10 bpm breakdowns, dont hate them, just they do get boring dancing to. thats most likely what you're listening to. you should find some 90s hardcore bands and listen to that generations version of a breakdown. they are a lot more upbeat and faster, but still slow enough to punch someone in the face to.

my area was highly known in the northeast during the 90s for those kind of bands. some even capture the old punk sound you would most likely appreciate. hit me up if you want the myspace etc.. because not many got really big and produced youtube videos, major cds, etc... only a few did before they died off.

dancing is just fucking gay in general to me the pits are never as violent with people dancing period you can try to argue it all day but if you have ever seen a Behemoth show or Immortal live or something you would understand

dancing is something that women and douchebags do at a club I don't listen to music to dance I listen to it for content

but if that's your thing then that's your thing I just don't see the fun in pretending to hit people and then occasionally doing it instead of just getting into a real pit

At real shows there is no pretending.. it's all running side to side punching people and knocking people over.

E: You say your area is so violent, but if you go see bands like Cruel Hand and people aren't stomping each other into the ground and hitting everyone around them and in the crowd then it's not shit because that's how it is here.

oh there's plenty of that but that's not what I consider to be really violent

our shows are full of Sureno's and crips and shit that used to getting jumped into gangs and bullshit when I say violent I mean there are 5 people stomping someone out in the middle of the put until they are unconscious

not saying that stomping someone makes for a good show or a pit it's just that in comparison dancing looks like a bunch of pussie nonsense

There isn't much "dancing" here. I call it mosh because it's too violent to be called dancing. People don't just stand around and swing til they hit someone in Cleveland. Most people just run around the edges of the pit and across the pit punching people.

E: At the good shows, I mean.

ya pretty much the same here but it gets gay a lot of time

there's a lot of people that go just to fuck people up and unless you are with a big group there's not much you can do it about

metal/hardcore shows are rare here because there are always too many fights and people getting stabbed and stupid shit it kinda sucks cuz it kills our music scene

I've been to death metal shows like cannibal corpse and such. I know the differences between those kind of pits and the hardcore ones. People around here dont dance like fairies like ones you might have seen. People here hit eachother, people constantly get shit broken, or knocked out, etc... and if no pussies start fights because they get hit, all they do is brush off their shoulder and continue the day.

We also have a lot of FSU and DMS related violence and other gang violence around here. We had one of our main bars shut down because someone got killed in a gang fight during a show.

At a lot of the shows where the older bands play around here, there are rarely fights because most people who mosh are the ones who enjoy getting hit or hitting other people.

that's how it used to be but now with the music getting so mainstream a lot of different people go

last big show I was at there was a huge biker fight between some Hell's Angels and Mongols that ended up with 5 people dead and the venue getting closed down for a year
