So, I saw Infected Mushroom and Shpongle/Hallucinogen the other weekend, figured I'd share it here :
First, some local bands came on. One was this dude Liam Shy, who was a local psytrance artist. He was okay, a little boring at times, but nice and bassy to dance to. Then another band came on called Dissolve. It was Liam Shy from the first act, + 2 more players, a keyboardist and a violinist. Their music was really beautiful and psychedelic, very nice to dance to. Then Shpongle came on, holy shit. Simon's set was nuts, he opened with I am you, and all these dancers started coming out of the sides of the stage, dressed in these trippy outfits and doing these crazy ass dances to the music, it was really amazing. I wasn't even tripping, but just being near that kind of energy and being able to see what Simon does live, and dancing to that music was incredibly powerful and spiritual for me. Infected came on next, and I'm not going to sugar coat it, I was so disappointed with their set I almost cried. Now that they're a band, and it's no longer amit and duvdev, all they did was play newer stuff. They basically played their entire new album, all of which sounded exactly the same. It was almost primitive, I know that sounds harsh but it was really awful. The oldest song they played was cities of the future, which I don't even like that much. I was hoping for at least ONE of their old psy songs, but alas they played none. Apparently Eres was supposed to do a DJ set of older stuff, but me and my gf had to leave before then, as it was almost 2:30AM and our parking was about to run out outside. I also only got to see Simon doing some kind of freestyling with Hallucinogen, not the actual set. The freestyling stuff was really cool though, the stuff he comes up with on the spot was pretty damn trippy. He looked far from sober though, so that may have been why

Overall, good concert. Everything glowed, except for Infected.

I had been wondering how this went! I'm really sorry to hear about Infected but I'm glad you got to see Simon! I've only seen him once with the Twisted crew but it blew my mind, it was just so ridiculously intense compared to any other show I've been to. I'm glad you had a good time and that's pretty sweet that they were getting some local artists out in the spotlight too. Do you know by any chance how the local psy scene is around there? I've not found much of anywhere in the US so far that has much of a scene in the way of goa/psy but I'd love to go visit anywhere that does haha.
