^Comftorbably Numb is a great example of a song that I've put on and taken off the playlist multiple times.

If a song gets too dark/intense/weird (the acceptable amount depends on the duration that it happens for) it doesn't get used. This song is a bit dark overall with its overtones and can get a bit weird in places but has a general happy-sadness that helps and plenty of awesomeness interspersed throughout

This song is in a similar situation but ended up off the list, I'm still undecided. A lot of it is perfect but the tribal intersections do get too dark/weird in places

I notice that most of the songs in your playlist are electronic, and dont really have many lyrics. Also, james blunt just came on. You and I would not have would not agree in trip taste. Although jimi just came on, always good.
I would argue that the pink floyd back catalogue would need to be played.
When i trip i much prefer the sound of real instruments as oppose to electronic stuff, which to me usually always feels dark. Unless I'm at a psy trance rave, i dont want to sit and chill with melodic dub. I prefer a guitar solo.

When i started tripping it would be the entire catalogue of either the beatles, pink floyd or jimi hendrix. Then i made a big playlist of all bands from that period, 60-80s. I named it 'A Certain Instance Deserves this music'

Can't get over the chavy voice with Scroobius Pip, its good but would be great otherwise, never really liked low key singing in this style. More intentionally grating stuff from The Books? don't see how you can listen to this stuff lol

Thats because he is mainly a poet.

I used to feel this way as well. But lately, I'm leaning more and more to the opinion that this is a false dichotomy.
I'm not looking for a discussion here. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and taste(s).

While I agree that instrumentals are important it really doesn't matter to me if it's electronic music or not, a lot of artists use live instrumentation mixed with electronic sounds anyway. I just find a lot of the most chilled/beautiful stuff lies in the electronic genre

Guitar sounds need to be recorded at least though, far harder to replicate accurately

As for The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix: I agree with The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix at least, don't listen to The Beatles much anymore but probably should, I remember a lot of their stuff being a bit low key and tame but a lot of it is gold. Just getting into Jimi Hendrix so will probably add a bunch in future. As for Pink Floyd I'd enjoy listening to the wall and dark side but most of their stuff just ends up being a bit weird and all over the place for my taste. I'd replace Pink Floyd with Ozric Tentacles, much more melodic/progressive psy-rock
I'd also add Dire Straits and Fleetwood from the period, the Alan Parsons Project too but don't have much from them yet

That would make a good playlist but only represents a portion of what I enjoy
