quick question.. or statement rather, Im prolly the biggest fan of Nine Inch Nails that you'll ever find, least I like to think so

I grew up on this kinda music
anyways, what is emo? a band or a guy who sings/screams/cries on songs with emotion/passion?..correct?, least thats my view on it anyways
and if thats the case Arsenic, Trent Reznor (who is a god amongst men, a genius) was the 1 who invented "emo" imo
case and point, the album Pretty Hate Machine came out in 1989.. far before anyone ever knew what "emo" was.., track 5, "Something I Can Never Have" has emo written all over it
and its 1 of my most favorite songs of all time
as far as NINs new stuff, its a totally different sound, its definately not the same as what it used to be but I will forever be a fan
as far as other Industrial music/artists, NIN is all i know for that genre, sorry, no help from me
This guy has the right idea.
NIN forever!
The particular genre of Trent Reznor's work is undefinable. He predominantly started out as a industrial artist with Pretty Hate Machine and some aspects of The Downward Spiral. You began to see his evolution with the Fragile (IMO the best album by any artist ever period).
Reznor should be a epitome to what other artist should aspire to be. He was constantly re-inventing his music. Honestly, when I was a teen his older music was befitting. As his music evolved so did my tastes. His recent albums are just as revolutionary to me as were his old when I was a teenager.
To refer to his music as "emo" is ludicrous... comparing his work to the likes of shit like My Chemical Romance is blasphemy lol...
Honestly when I think of Industrial I think of NIN's older music. None of the music I rummaged through in this thread interested me

I wish I could find another NIN... especially now that Reznor said he is done with that portion of his career
