!!WARNING!!

Most of you WILL NOT like this. That is, if you're not able to listen to it in context. Hell, even with context, some of you still won't like it. Heh.

Throbbing Gristle burst out from the post-Punk scene back in the mid/late '70s, as much performance art as music. Some might argue more so. They were doing things with primitive music technology which, up until that point, largely wasn't done; trying to get sounds out of equipment that it wasn't supposed to make. TG was amongst the early pioneers of harsh electronic music; without them, and their contemporaries, harsh electronic music might not exist as it does today.

The video above is for the song Discipline, released in 1981. Enjoy. If you're able. wink.gif

Industrial side-project supergroup with members of Front 242, Cubanate, and Nitzer Ebb, among others.

This track has a slow build. Sit back, relax, and enjoy.

I wanted to add my song of the day here, but that won't be possible - thus I will add a record of today.

Set Fire To Flames - Sings Reign Rebuilder

Set Fire To Flames is a project formed by many artists working/living in the Montreal area. After Godspeed You! Black Emperor's infinite hiatus, a lot of new bands came running out of its wake. One could say Godspeed stopped existing because of all these side projects - but that's another story. Somehow, many of these side projects united in the 2 records that Set Fire To Flames produced and both records became very eerie bizarre records with many samples from various kinds of city life. This 13 man ensemble has achieved to create a record that is worth listening to and only grows every time it's being played (one could say this about many many records, but this one is a bit out of the ordinary, so to speak). The bizarre tracks with people talking and the violas/cellos in the background mixed with the reverb guitars and noisy drums creates an incredibly intense atmosphere throughout the entire 73 minutes.

It is a record worth it all.

Forgive me for not having posted one song.

Very provocative write-up. I'll have to investigate this band. smile.gif

No, by the love of God, don't.

This is simply what I listen to right now. You should definately do it this way:

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - New Zerø kanada ep
Thee Silver Mt Zion Memorial Orchestra And Tra-la-la band - Born into trouble as the sparks fly upwards
Hrsta - L'eclat Du Ciel etait insoutenable

Anyway, feel free to do as you wish, but if this is the first time yr introduced to this genre (like.. not knowing Red Sparrowes, Mogwai, Sigur Ros, Explosions in the sky) One should start at Godspeed. If one knows Mogwai, Sigur Ros etc etc and find them shitty - then keep in mind that they all look mediocre when compared to most of the Montreal based "post-rock" (I've stopped calling it post-rock.. really)
