You need to listen to disturbed and killswitch , it is apparent that you are not musical. If you knew music, been a member of a band you would know the differnce is far from minimal.
Time and scientific research has told us that all people hear sounds differently ... so you may be hearing something wayyyyyyy different from what I hear, that is fine.
But the way I hear it , and the majority of the world hears it , it is not the same.
When you play a song, instrimental only (No lyrics) back to back, and can EASILY indentify the band , you have tried this?
Download some instrimental only versions , play them back to back,
pretend all you want, their sounds are not the same.
Metal is metal is metal, yeah... w/e ... i've been listening to it for far longer than most of you (probably... because i've lived far longer) and I've listened to MANY bands live.
A lot of bands use similar recording devices that capture music the same, when you record to an .mp3 format for CD's , you tend to get similar music tones/quality
But when you listen to the bands live, their personality comes to life, their musical differences scream at you, and you cannot deny this, unless you don't listen to LIVE music
I enjoy educated and non trolling conversations once in a great blue moon, lets try to keep it this way
I'm not trying to be mean, but no offense, I'm part of the hardcore scene and a huge part of my life and my social outings are live shows. I doubt you have been to more shows than me. Sorry to make it a contest but you started it. you're not superior to anyone here just because you might be older...
And i am pretty instrumental. considering i play 2 instruments and what not. I understand music and having been a huge fan of nu-metal and metalcore just a few years ago, I can safely say I am very familiar with the genre and the lack of originality and uniqueness each band has. i understand the percussions most of all, and really anyone who doesn't even know the basics of a drumset could tell you that they way these "drummers" all play are very much the SAME with tiny differing qualities. the same goes for the way the guitar is played in most nu-metal bands.... killswitch engage, disturbed, five finger death punch. none of them contain an "oooooh" factor that makes someone go "oh! this is different!" unless the only thing you really listen to is: nu-metal, metalcore, rapcore and the furthest you stray from that is basic alternative rock.
it's fine that you like what you like, but to say five finger death punch or any nu-metal is unique or creative is a no-no. it's all made to sound alike, saying that one of the bands is different is an oxymoron
