I saw Meshuggah in 05, and it was crap. The one thing I remember from that gig was the guitarist smashed the fuck out of his guitar - but other than that, was stale and boring-a-performance.

I won't flame them - I apologise for my rage above, but I suppose I do see the appeal to people who enjoy complicated time sigs - I am not that people.

LoG is a ''goodbandwhenyouare15andragetheworld'', that's all.

*Btw, i'm not saying they are not good at what they do, i can admit that in this type of metal, LoG are crushing everthing else in my book, saw them live like 5-6 times, really good vibe/energy (aka gigantic wall of death + pit on ''Ruin'')*

BUT

If you learn to like / play good death/black metal, you will see that LoG lack half of what makes a band good : having their own style / not the same song writting pattern over and over / feelings and emotions in the atmosphere of their riffs.

Listen to bands like Gorgasm, Vital Remains, Death, Nile, Decrepit Birth. They are all really easy to like/get into the mood (different kind of metal too), even if it's your first listen, but still brg something up that ''Lambofgodstylecopycatband'' aren't.

The only 2 bands i really like that lack these quality stated above is : Origin and Braindrill, cuz... they are just too awesome (i'm a bass player so...yeah).

I have also discovered a band called Dead Congregation, and this is a really good exemple of originality, powerfull energy, emotions, complex patern.
And for the Messhugah thing, most of people rage againt messhugah cuz they don't understand the rythmic patern : even their drummer admit that the song Bleed almost didnt make the album cuz it was too complex to record. That said, i'm not a messhugah fan cuz half of their songs sounds the same.

The way i'm thinking : all ''core'' is shit when you learn to like complex/original stuff.
