Wouldn't consider Taake despressive in the slightest

still black metal.

and some of it is depressive. especially the one i posted.

If you had a magic broom lady come into your town knowing you were going to die you'd be depressed.

Also is nattestid the reason why people use brooms for witches?

I have to second Taake not being depressive at all, and that song is definitely not so. Nonetheless, Taake is pretty awesome and the attempted contribution is still appreciated.

On the topic of questionable contributions, I have a couple more to add before bed that are slightly different than the theme so far and could be arguable.

Void of Silence is sort of a doom metal super group. The album "Human Antithesis" features the vocals of one of my favorite singers, A.A. Nemtheanga of Primordial. The first track is over 20 minutes long, so it looks like the Youtube video is in two parts. Here is the first:

This last one is really, really questionable. From what I know, they (claim to) use real mental patients to capture the "true emotion" of their music. Whether or not it's depressive is up to the listener to decipher. Hell, whether or not it's even metal is up for debate. In fact, I'm pretty sure they've been put up and taken from Metal-Archives a few times now over that same debate.

What part do the mental patients play in their music? I'm assuming they just record people freaking out in a mental hospital?

Sorry, I could have clarified that. The claim is that the vocals are only done by the mental patients. The band wanted to capture the pain and torment that these people suffer.

I'm on the fence about the Void of Silence track, it's good, but doesn't strike me as overtly depressive.

I can't find a single redeeming quality of that Stalaggh song, lol

Yeah, I can see the argument there, and that's why I listed it as questionable. I think the counterpoint, though, could be just how melancholic A.A's vocals can be.
