it makes perfect sense. jsut because metalcore has its foundation in thrash doesnt mean that you have to like both. clearly not since you like thrash but not metalcore. it goes both ways. theyre still two different types of music.
me, i listen to almost all kinds of metal as long as its got a decent melody to it somewhere. so plain brutal death metal and harsh black metal are generally out (though i do like some) but melodic dm/bm, power, thrash (some, not as big a fan), classic, folk, heavy, symphonic, doom, gothic, industrial and even some nu/alt metal are all good by me.
