Who said it couldn't?
lol alot of people and alot of the shit really does lack rhythm
a lot of really dislike the way the dubstep scene is transforming. most people i talk to only think of dubstep as midrange dirty heavy shit, and most ppl that already knew dubstep are starting to dislike the fact its taking a huge turn that way.
alot of the "dirty filthy disgusting hard" stuff really does lack rhythmic percussion and the percussion is overall weak , and the basslines just match watever midrange synth/sample is womping through. lgo to inspector dubplates youtube channel its supposed to be all the new hottest dubstep alot of it is dirty but weak , just simplistic n heavy n usually repetative .. just "dirty" n everyones like omg n leaves a million comments thinkin how they can say somethin real dirty to compare it to
if neone listens to some of the original producers like hatcha, mala, loefah, coki, distance, skream , cotti, cyrus, distance, clue kid, LD, walsh , DZ, kromestar and theyll see how much jungle influence is present in the percussion, there is tons of rhythm...and the sub bass they all use is way deep. shit like that you cant even listen to without a subwoofer because the subbass is what takes over. then look up borgore and youll find a bland percussion n just a bunch of dirty samples/synths . .the dirty noises are waht takes over its not aas bad to listen to without a subbass cause its not so dominant.
not saying heavy dirtty hard shit isnt good alot of it can be really really great im not one to go and shit on the whole idea , i like alot of it , its just alot of newer shit imo really lacks rhythm seems a lil watered down to me
