So happy I could share with you  I also would really like to see them live, and it's heavier than my usual blues too. Love the singer - love him.

The Drones' album was pretty badass, need to give that one another go sometime.

Listened to this one today, probably one of my favorites of the year:

Makthaverskan II by Makthaverskan.

Sounds good on the first listen, very poppy, reminds me a lot of Yuck's self-titled which is one of my favorites for the last few years.

EDIT -- Also listened to Haken's album, "The Mountain", which is a progressive metal release and enjoyed it well enough. Didn't appeal to me nearly as much as Makthaverskan's album but had some awesome instrumentation and lyrics that made me laugh (probably not supposed to be funny, though).

The guitarist from Haken is one of the writers for Total Guitar, my guitar mag. Very cool - but was also not my cuppa tea either. Still, nice to see a band try so many styles in one album lol

Not too bad, looking at the song titles I clearly have no idea what the Hell this album is about but it's probably my second favorite metal release so far.

Desperation by Oblivians was pretty cool, very quick album was a handful of catchy songs. The first word that came to mind when I listened to this one was "dirty", probably because it struck me as a lot less polished than the last few albums I listened to, mainly these progressive metal albums (I also found it far better, haha).

I also listened to the new Sabbath album and was thoroughly unimpressed. Lyrically I found it was kind of annoying and a little redundant and musically I just prefer their older sound to what they're doing now. Ozzy sounded great on the album and I don't find it bad as much as I do forgettable, I guess.

Let's see, I decided to give Justin Timberlake a go and listened to this:

I really didn't enjoy the first two or three songs, I guess they just weren't my style. He tried some different stuff in the middle songs and has some catchy instrumentation towards the end of the album. Lyrically I thought it was sub-par but I give him credit for trying something different with longer songs than I'd expect for a pop artist.

Just finished this one, "Wondrous Bughouse" by Youth Lagoon and thought it was alright. Some parts outright annoyed me and it didn't get to be too good until the last few songs. Meh.
