Recently, I've been struggling with the definition of Instrumental Hip Hop. More often than not, those who solely produce instrumentals without the idea of an emcee in mind add a variety of richly detailed and varied instrumentals to their work. The problem is, the more variety and complexity an instrumental track receives, the closer it usually becomes to psychedelic / electronic / trip-hop, etc., a lot of time with dubstep influences and sometimes trap, and more. I've noticed that a lot of jazzy instrumental hip hop can be difficult to distinguish between jazz itself. Do I post it in a Jazz topic or in this topic?
I wish I would have at least included Trip Hop in the description of this thread, as Trip Hop encompasses a very diverse variety of instrumentals.
Eh, whatever the case, I'm not going to limit myself too strictly when posting here. I'm not the greatest at defining the differentiation between genres. There may be posts here that belong in a different thread.
Instrumental Hip Hop is a pretty broad genre. There is a very wide variety of music tracks that could fall into the category of Instrumental Hip Hop. Up until this time, I've always thought, "If you could imagine an emcee producing vocals over this track, then it's instrumental hip hop." That's pretty untrue. I can imagine an emcee producing vocals over pretty much anything. That makes Lounge Jazz Instrumental Hip Hop. So, I guess that makes my job a little bit easier.
I'm done considering whether or not I should post these awesome works in this thread or not.
