I really got into LoG with Ashes, and then Sacrament came out, which someone earlier compared those to the black album and then load. Think thats about right, I always thought once Metallica put out Load, they just sounded like they matured a bit... playing "harder and faster" isnt always a good thing
Like Chris Adler said himself "Anybody can play fast, write something solid" ...and when it comes to rock/metal.. I couldnt agree more. Go to any metal concert in the world today...and what you find is a vocalist that does not stand out, a dime a dozen kinda sound..and the rest of the band might have a little talent.. but almost never bring something new to the table.. For that reason I have rarely found new bands I start throwing into my daily mix. But you take a great sound system, and light up Walk with me in Hell or Descending, it sounds like war in hell is about to break out.
Favorites ( in as close to an order as I can guess)
Nail for your Coffin ( really surprized I havent seen more people mention this one.. im more of a drum fan, but that damn solo is the coolest fuckin thing on a guitar ive ever heard)
Descending (song is relentless, but theres method to the madness and doesnt bore)
Redneck (fast, does the job)
Remorse is for the Dead ( progession suits me)
Reclamation (by the ending, id have to say that Randy breathing that damn heavy was pretty much required after that one, but it's different from other songs in that it does progress, its not just 5 minutes of balls to the wall.. Kind of like a person you may know that says fuck n shit every 3 words, it means nothing ya know? ...but when grandma slips, "whoaa did you hear that?"
Insurrection ( I wish they'd do a few more like this)
Hit the Wall (made for a videogame... spot on)
