the violence is what drew me into. i consider it brotherly violence.

I know you guys are not going to agree with me on this but the whole family and brotherhood part of hardcore is so fucking gay

"hay guyzz let's all go be unique rebels.... together"

the reason I prefer punk 99 times out of 100 is because at least punk takes the time to think through their lyrics a little better hardcore is so riddled with direct contradictions and logical fallacies I find it hard to take any of them seriously

Punk was the time. Punk kids only hung out with other punk kids at punk shows. They only talked to other punk kids, and their only friends were other punk kids. Finding others similar to you in order to obtain a sense of comradery (sp?) is just what people do. It's stupid and makes no sense to instill or become part of a movement that invokes being unique and rebelling against social norms when no matter what the people all end up being the same as the friends they pick anyways.

By brotherly I meant when you're in a scene with friends or people you relatively know from seeing them at shows... we get violent on each other to a degree. We all get hit in the face or w/e, but all it takes is a handshake at the end of the night and all is good. Its the pricks that start fights the second they get hit that makes everyone assume the REAL hardcore kids are all violent douche bags.

idk about you guys but that's not at all how the West Coast punk scene was gutter punks hung out with whoever was on the streets including gang members, homeless people, etc just whoever was around and they still do when you go to places like Venice and there still is a slight punk scene

and you do have a decent sociological point but then why does the music stress the uniqueness so much? you can't sit there and bash the rest of society for conforming and then be a clone of all of your friends and the hardcore scene in general has far less diversity than the punk scene ever did

ya that's true

that's why in Cali big shows tend to have shitty pits because no matter what as soon as a pit starts a fight starts because there are too many different cliques there

local shows are more fun because the pits are better but you also have less people so you have 10-20 people doing a good pit instead of 50-60 at a big show

from what I hear the east coast has better pits at big shows because people understand that it's just a pit more, on the West coast especially in LA we have too many gang members and shit packing knives into shows for people to feel comfortable just going all out in a pit because people are idiots and always make something out of nothing

Ive been in pits where 5 of us are going at it. I've also been in pits at like edge day and hatebreed where theres like 50+ people going at it. Theres a douche at every show that makes something out of nothing, but we never usually worry about gangs here. The only gangs out here (in the hardcore scene) really are FSU, DMS, and a few smaller crews. FSU DMS and most of the others have respect unless you fuck with them.

Now when you're outside of the venue in between bands, thats a different story with gangs etc.. Where our main venue is, it's a big college area and gang area. So we've gotten in fights with the douchebag friday night party college kids... but we have also gotten in fights with some sketchy people.

Not too long ago we had some druggie and his buddies pull a knife on us at a show. Unfortunately for the druggie and his buddies, they werent fighting 2 or 3 people, they were fighting half the bar. He was just left a bloody unconcious mess on the side walk because we ran in before the cops came.

posicore is just a direct contradiction of everything hardcore stood for and real hardcore stands for they just shouldn't try to label themselves as hardcore

they are just detuned pop punk

I'm from Ohio as well. You guys are terrible. Suffocate Faster is from Cinci and they would probably all kill themselves if they knew kids like you represented the Cinci scene these days.
