I guess, being from Texas, I've had Dub Assembly and Gritsy for years and years. Even before Dub Assembly, Mundo was running the oldest UKG monthly in the country. The quality of Gritsy and DA has always been fairly high. I've seen most of the dubstep 'legends' play on the biggest sound systems in the country and am on to other sounds. I miss when dubstep was experimental. It's pretty much found it's path now and the experimental stuff lie in other genres. Of course, there are artists that I will still continue to follow. Mala, 2000f/JKarmata/Joker/Kastle/Gemmy/etc...but as far as the super deep formula is concerned, it's pretty much played out to me. Like, deep and dark...ya, i get it. Swamp81 was exciting for a bit, but it quickly lost my interest as well. To be perfectly honest, I just like more "pretty" and "soulful" music than what a lot of these guys are making.
NYC had dubwar but that ended a few years back, since then there hasnt been much on the north east coast until reconstrvct got the ball rolling again. gritsy has always been legit haha ive been jealous. but yea obviously people are going to have different preferences, and i think a decent amount of people got into dubstep for the deep/dark vibes and rolling sub bass. i have always liked dark dub and dark sounds, so ii like dark minimal dubstep and the more organic minimal sounds coming out. of course yeah - theres tons more BS dark stuff , a lot of rinsed sounds , and stuff thats not super creative; and i have to sift through it. there's still soulful stuff being produced but just like anything though you gotta dig more, due to so many artists following the trends. i always tell people listen to a joe nice set if they think dubstep is getting stale because its going to have different sounds in it and unreleased/forthcoming tunes.
