is pure crap....

the ratio was much better in the 60s 70s and 80s

you're so wrong it's hilarious they still make plenty of good stuff you just have to dig to find it

coming from a guy who love obscure seventies psych, kraut and prog rock

50's 60's jazz and so on

there is SO MUCH pure gold 70's music that none of you have ever heard of like Catapilla, raw material, T2, Panta Rei and so on

Excactly the same as with the 2000's, brilliant shit is being created EVERY DAY but if you don't dig you won't find any.

Moral of the thread is play what you want to hear. Can't rely on anybody or anything, radio stations included, to play something you're cool with. They're not there to appeal to Furio@Jsp, they're there to appeal to the simple-minded public.

And again, This. People need to learn no one has the same taste in music, everybody likes different stuff. And when making music the person who's making it, is going to make what they like to hear, if you don't like it, then find a different artist.
I really don't see a huge issue here unless you're ignorant to what music is, and what it's meant for.

In general I prefer acoustic guitar to electric. That being said, I wouldn't waste my time listening to it if they could play any note they wanted to and the guitar would just play a pre-programmed note... I'm not saying voice alternation necessarily ruins a song, if it is used properly. Hell, many of my favourite songs have voice alterations. It's one thing to use it as an effect and it's another to use it in every song because your music sounds terrible without it.

the execution of a song doesn't take away from its musical qualities. is it any less good music because although someone has good ideas, they need help in producing them?

Hey guess what, don't to the radio?

But where i live there is a radio station that plays good music but fuck adverts.

Black Keys and Jack White are both pretty mainstream and they are quality. 9.9999%, you need to rethink that, music today is getter better and better every year, maybe after the 70s it did start to dip, but now i think its getting better all the time

I really don't see music as being worse these days than it was "back in the day." In fact, I'm totally sick of most of that music anyway.

Music has evolved over the years, genres spawn other genres and ideas get explored even further. It's a progressive thing, just like culture and society are. Hell, music IS culture.

And to assume that all or even most music created today is "pop" music seems highly misguided to me. First of all, a lot of the people making pop music are a small select group of individuals who have attained extreme fame. Secondly, do you realize how much music is created every day? Not all of it is recorded or sold on CDs and even then, a lot of it is and just because you don't know about it doesn't mean it sucks or doesn't exist.

This is the greatest time I can think of in all of history to be a musician. We have so much technology and so much information and diversity to draw from. We are more connected as a planet than we have ever been before. Sure you're gonna hear more music you don't like but that's because you're hearing more music altogether! Back in the 60s the amount of famed musicians I would be very willing bet is a much lower number than it is today. There's so much opportunity to create all kinds of music today and it's easier than ever to market yourself across the internet.

There's plenty of fantastic music out there, but as they say with all art, 90% is garbage. This is nothing new.

Because the record companies are just looking for the next catchy song so they can line their pockets...
Take money out of music, and it'll start getting better again.

Yeah, and take the money out of politics and the world will get better again. Never gonna happen

There was plenty of bad music in those decades as well, but people choose to ignore that fact.

i feel dumb for even reading this thread. rly.

"There's plenty of fantastic music out there, but as they say with all art, 90% is garbage. This is nothing new." this is pretty much it. there's more people doing it than ever before, thus more saturation than the past. but jfc, there's plenty of incredible music...in fact, at a much greater volume and level of diversity than ever before. due to the accessibility, there is a lot of bad shit no denying that. but come on, you can't seriously suggest that pop music is limited to a handful of artists. there are 'underground' acts getting 100's of thousands of views in a day. I consider that popular and something that only a very select few could probably achieve in the 60s. we live in a different time. and just because some have a very narrow view on music, it doesn't mean that there isn't music outside of their scope that is widely known and celebrated as unique and different. jfc, how naive can a person be?

it's rly as though some ppl think the world ends at what they know. lol
