what do you mean by private trackers ? .. i usually find stuff just by finding good labels i like and either follow them on twitter/facebook or cause juno/chemical/surus send me emails constantly bout upcoming releases. also just certain songs i wait for release but im only pretty up to date with dark dubstep . mondays = lotta digi releases. ive been trying to get more uk funky stuff and branch away from 140 but pretty new to it, been finding stuff off fkysouls and gonna branch off from the labels n stuff n see what else i can find

i dunno anyone really with dubs and i dont know if chatting up producers would get a no name guy who likes to mix music dubs. only person who i know would have access to dubs and have chattted it up with is conscious pilot lol thats cause ive met him at shows and i try to lock into his sub.fm show

I'm not suggesting it's a disadvantage to use SoundCloud. I use it myself. I'm just saying you are bashing turntable.fm pretty hard considering it seems as though you've spent maybe 10 min on it and using your worst examples to describe it. I keep up with the music as in I often have access to unreleased tracks and brand new releases through db9.

Just for the record, the Lorca tune I posted came out a week and a half ago. I'd consider that relatively new.

i was referring to lorca - moments which ive had on wax since august
im not bashing turntable.fm, i only said that it's just not for me. i also said that i only spent a couple hours in there, did i not? and that i'm sure there are exceptions and i'm sure that if i spent more time in there, i might find some stuff that would be neat. but TO ME, it is not worth that time investment as there are other mediums with which to explore music that i find more beneficial. it's not like i'm calling your gf ugly, i just disagree with the value you put on this website.

i tried to make it clear that it was only my opinion, i dont think that i ever suggested that my opinion was fact so i'm not sure why youre getting offended.

all that is happening here is me repeating myself and then you rephrasing what i said, so i guess i'm done with this conversation.

man, you just have to chat with the artists. there is a lot of time invested in music, especially djing, that has very little to do with music. the reality of the scene is that it isnt huge...so when they get a fan, most people are appreciative and welcome the conversation and they are even happy to send tracks. though, a lot of cats watermark their stuff so you dont want to go passing out dubs that were given to you (kind of a dick move tho anyway innit)

it's less about asking, i guess, more about communicating with the artists. im sure a lot of "HAI CAN I HAZ 320PLZ" get completely ignored (outside of dubstepforum producers section) but if you develop relationships with people...send them your mixes that you used their tunes in and stuff, a lot of cats respect that.

even with getting gigs, it's all about meeting people and developing relationships with those people. ive done a number of big shows, a couple of weeklies that lasted several years, radio show guest spots, even out of state gigs, without ever *asking* for any of it and 90% of those people, i met online and theyre all people that i consider friends and still maintain contact with even tho i haven't DJ'd in 7 months

yea i know what you mean i worded that simple lol. pretty much what i meant is even if i were to build a relationship with these producers im not doing big enough things for them to have much reason to send me dubs besides getting my opinion on them. i do need to do a lot more networking and start playing more stuff. its hard to push the sound i like around here, dubsteps popular in the philly area but pretty much only hype stuff. 90% of dubstep fans you meet around here i fee like they wont know who like digital mystikz or joenice is . but ive been playing parties and ive got asked to play two clubs upcomnig next month . im not super serious about trying to get up there as a dj and get dubs and stuff . i was just wondering how you were i didnt realize you mixed and stuff . been awhile since you been on jsp
