no not a specific form of techno . its a electronic music form, that was greatly influenced by garage / 2 step music, but also draws other influences from genres like regga/dub , jungle/dnb . it sorta was birthed out of the garage scene when producers started messing a bit with the percussion making it generally half time , and adding newer elements to the sound , especially emphasis on the bassline . a lot of early songs had lotta dub influence like reverbed snares . it has now evolved/progressed/regressed

into almost anything edm track at 140 bpm , by todays standards
