the tempo is faster than the average dubstep song

I don't understand why should be every dubstep songs at the same tempo... I believe only the output counts.

If the song is good to your ears then it's good.

But I don't mean by that that the other songs are bad.

You can't produce a song at 160-170 beats-per-minute and consider it "dubstep." Same goes for a track being far too slow. While one of dubstep's best qualities are that it has very few rules (you can see how much it's evolved since 2003), the tempo is certainly not something you can completely disregard.

now a days there's so many different sounds out put would accually tear the genre apart and things would be sub genred. which has kind of happened, as many ppl are throwing the term brostep / dungeoun around. the general bpm and percussion structure is what keeps the music characterized and together. its like that with most edm pretty much. i mean that song belongs here more than any other thread because of the sound , unless there was like a drumstep thread, but i was just pointing out that it sounded fast haha.

Negative. I haven't listened to Pretty Lights in quite a while, and really don't know shit about any other form of electronic music, but I'd just throw it in some electronica/house category. Good music though.
