I can hear small riffs that sound like earlier metallica in there, but seeing as Metallica is a big influence for Cruel Hand, I'm not surprised.

When I went to Edge Day, I wore a Metallica shirt. I talked to some of the Cruel Hand guys after the show and they really liked my shirt.

Might sound like I am being a douche, but, is there a hardcore scene in southern california?

and if I go am I going to get jumped by a bunch of militant straight edge assholes for minding my own business?

Yes there is. And no probably not. I heard Cali is behind the times as far as hardcore goes.

there are a few exceptions ofc, first blood, merauder, animosity, hoods, terror, throwdown, the warriors and winds of plague off the top of my head. but i wouldnt worry about getting jumped by "militant straight edge assholes", doesnt happen often anymore..

The big crews like DMS and FSU have some influence in upstate NY, but not enough to really ruin the scene. My buddy's crew is the biggest in the area, like 50+ people, but all of them are just heavy drinkers. Its the same here as everywhere else, just dont be a dick and no one messes with you. Pits are a different story here though..


But when/where is that power trip show, and who else is playing? I've been wanting to find more bands that have a sound similar to Power Trip and Municipal Waste.

Ill check it out then. as for that show, its in the middle of the week, so I'd probably have to work =/. I'm going to a Brick by Brick cd release on the 17th. If you wanted to go to a troy show, that'd be a good one to get to.

i wouldn't say california is "behind the times" in regards to hardcore as much as i'd say it just started ignoring hardcore..
i don't really blame california because hardcore doesn't fit the lifestyle a lot of californian's live
nor can most of the people who live there relate to the subjects a lot of hardcore bands talk about.

great hardcore bands still tour through here regardless though :D
so i'm fortunate for that.

a lot of great hardcore bands started in cali, too!
