This is a really really dumb argument.
lol, why? because you think that rusko, fluxp, dr p, and that lot are more legit than skrillex?
people treated rusko and borgore in 2009 just like they treat skrillex now. americans didn't ruin dubstep, it had a lot of bad elements in the beginning. there's always been a better group of artists, but my dude, they come from everywhere. it's not as though england is the only country in the world that is making quality dubstep. djg, widdler, roommate, mundo, noah d, etc are all dubstep acts from america. they're even less bro-y than the beloved Skream or Coki. Horrid Henry? Robotnik? Spongebob? OG BROSTEP R U FKN KIDDING ME?
people have this idea of dubstep, but it's ALWAYS had heavy/aggressive elements. not quite to where skrillex has taken it, but to me, Spongebob is just as irritating and terrible as any skrillex tune that ive heard. not to mention the old skream or rusko+caspa mixes. don't blame america for thinking skrillex is dubstep when 90% of the popular dubstep songs since 2007 or 2008 have been aggressive, wobbly, and irritating. you've got to be kidding me stating that my argument is dumb - you clearly know nothing.
Don't get me wrong, I've been involved in the dubstep scene for a long time. I did a dubstep weekly for 4 years straight. I liked the experimentation and the new sounds that were coming out. Hyperdub, techtonic, and a number of labels were doing really cool stuff within the genre, but let's be honest - dubstep has become polarized with nothing in the middle. there's deep stuff that is played out and boring, then there's aggro stuff that is played out and irritating. all of the experimentation has moved on, as i stated before, to new tempos and new styles.
call me a hipster, tell me my argument is invalid...but ive got plenty references to back my statements up. the only thing anyone has to say in rebuttal is "hipster" or "stupid argument." but i guess that is common when people can't think of a valid reply.
