vai is an excellent guitarist, i believe joe satriani ? taught him how to play the guitar(had lessons or some sort)(or some other dude lol can't remember)played with zappa, (rip), whitesnake(didn't like their all ''glam'' style, prefered their ancient style more blues rock)

100% true, Vai did take lessons from Satch for a while, (So did Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Andy Timmons, and plenty more) but developed his own style and sound as time went on. But yeah he's done stuff with the late and great Zappa, and Whitesnake for a few years...

They're all great and all but top 3 influential albums is really hard to say, I kinda put a troll post earlier, but it's a really tough question...I probably couldn't even list 10, would really need like 25-50.

if you're only looking at the rock n roll albums throughout history..

i believe you'd need to do top 10 for each decade, since each decade influenced or somehow made a major impact throughout the music industry(well..gnr back in late 80s,metallica,megadeth..) even in the 90s with the grunge/brit-pop movement etc

You can't have a discussion about hip hop albums and leave off
It takes a nation of millions to hold us back
Paid in full/ Eric B & Rakim
The Chronic

List could go on and on .... Think about it . That 3 leaves out 36 chambers , illmatic,
Low end theory, makaveli , Marshall Mathews LP.
Holy shit had to come back and edit..... NWA

I was just listing the albums that got me into Hip-Hop. My actual favorite Hip Hop albums are:

The Chronic
Life After Death
Creepin' On Ah Come Up

to be fair, suggs said whatever made you become a fan of whatever genre you listen to the most
Thus, influential to you, not to the actual genre.

Yeah, this pretty much.

Most of us weren't even born yet.

Still, classic albums.

honestly.... who cares about grammys.... or any 'awards' for that matter
how can a council sit down and rate art? blasphemous, really....

knopfler, clapton (in cream days), edge, dimebag, randy rhoads, theres a tonne of immaculate guitarists out there

for the record, kravitz is good. his success was just very short lived.
and besides, falcon was alluding to him as a person saying he was influenced by guys like hendrix.

and i hope falcons sentiments of; 'none of you know rock at all' or w/e, was his regretful troll post. completely ignorant and arrogant rofl

i agree that 'greatest hits' albums dont belong in a thread like this.
but as lamar pointed out, within the context of drunkard op's query, it works.

can't you just be happy i posted a video from your namesake in this thread?

Satriani has 15 grammy nominations.
Vai has plenty.

Saying Van Halen isn't relevant in a "influential albums" thread is fucking stupid because plenty of people basically started doing what he was doing.

Vai and Satriani are nearly the be-all-end-all of instrumental rock these days.

LOL

britany spears has won her fair share of awards, so has lady gaga

are you kidding me?

LOL

do you even play music?
