Also, probably the 00's. Not because no good music has come out, but because the popular music was mainly crappy. Previously there were at least some good bands that were popular.

Definitely the 80s. They had this shit glam rock/metal for mainstream music. It wasn't until Kurt Cobain did alternative get a decent footing.
My favorite music was made in the 90s. Notorious BIG, some grunge, and cool stuff like sixpence none the richer. To the credit of the 80s, they did do a cover of La's indie anthem, but they improved on it.

If all you listened to was the radio.. then yes. Aside from maybe old green day.

Metal was still good, and hardcore was at its golden age in the 90s.

Since the labels bought up all the big indie punk labels....

Even fall out boy rocked in 02, 3 years before MTV destroyed em.
